School Performance and Assessment Information

School Performance 2022-2023

We are extremely proud of all our pupils resilience, perseverance and determination in their learning since the disruption caused by COVID-19.

At Waddesdon Village Primary School we aim for as many pupils as possible to meet age-related expectations based on the National Curriculum by the end of each year group. Many pupils will meet these expectations during the school year and will start to apply their learning in different ways to work at greater depth. Our pupils continue to perform above national averages in statutory assessments and we are committed to continuing to strive to ensure that pupils maximise the amount of progress made through their journey at school from their stating points.

EYFS (Reception Class)

Reception children are assessed against the early learning goals in the 3 prime areas (PSED, Communication and Language and Physical Development) as well as the specific areas (Literacy and Numeracy). If children achieve the expected level in all of these areas, they achieve a ‘good level of development (GLD)’.

Year 4 Multiplication Check

All pupils in Year 4 take part in a multiplication check. The check has 25 questions and tests pupils on their multiplication facts. Pupils only have 6 second per question. The government does not release a pass mark for this but does release average data. Those pupils below the average score will continue to receive support the following academic year.

Internal Assessment

At Waddesdon Village Primary School we strive to ensure that all pupils reach their full potential and are supported and nurtured along their pathway to successful learning.

Throughout the academic year, teachers use a mixture of formative and summative assessment to assess pupils and identify any gaps in learning which are then addressed either in class or through an extra  intervention.

Children are assessed against age related expectations for the time of the year and progress is tracked from the previous academic year and prior key stage.

Attainment:

GDS - Greater depth standard

EXS - Expected standard

WT - Working towards standard

- Below standard

Progress:

BTE - Better than expected progress

EXP - Expected Progress

- Below expected progress

Assessment and progress information will be shared with parents through parents evenings and end of year reporting.
