Year 1 - In PSHCE, children focus on their personal relationships, social skills and their feelings. The focus in Autumn is ‘Belonging’ and ‘Relationships’. In Spring children will consider ‘Special People’. ‘Special Things’ will be the topic in Summer.
Year 2 - In PSHCE children currently follow SEAL units on the following subjects; New Beginnings, Getting On and Falling Out, Say No to Bullying, Going for Goals, Good to be Me, Relationships, Changes.
Year 3 - In Class 3 the SEAL scheme of work is used as a base for all lessons. A large emphasis is placed on paired and group work as discussion is key. Areas studied include:
- New beginnings
- Getting on and falling out
- My healthy body
- Going for goals
- Keeping myself safe
- Developing our school grounds
Year 4 - We are following the SEAL format in PSHCE where children will use active circle times to discuss thoughts and feelings on friendship, ourselves and the world around us.
Year 5 - In PSHCE, Year 5 learn about keeping myself safe, children’s rights, lifestyle & culture, relationships & puberty and substance use & abuse.
Year 6 - SEAL materials (Social and Emotional Learning) are currently used as the foundation for our PSHCE, facilitating discussion and enabling the children to explore relationships, difficult situations that arise and changes that affect them in their daily living. Further focus on drugs, alcohol and sex education also form an important part of their PSHE lessons.
